*Postponed* 2020 Foodways Texas Symposium

*Postponed* 2020 Foodways Texas Symposium

Foodways Texas is excited to announce that our 10th Annual Foodways Texas Symposium, “A Table at the Crossroads,” will take place in San Antonio, Texas, on March 26-28, 2020.

For thousands of years, the territory that comprises the state of Texas has been a home for many and a stopping point along myriad routes for many more. Groups have followed the seasons across the state to harvest pecans, prickly pear, figs, oysters, fish, and game while creating food cultures and sharing foodways. Texas has attracted groups from all over the world who have settled across the state both influencing and being influenced by the foodways they encounter and the state will continue to act as a meeting point and crossroads for new groups and food cultures as we continue into the 21st century. San Antonio is perfectly positioned geographically for our discussion of this amazingly diverse  collection and mixing of food cultures.

We're changing the schedule up a bit this year. We'll still hold our traditional program beginning Thursday evening with dinner and closing Saturday at lunch, but we'll offer several optional tours (or tour on your own) on Saturday afternoon that focus on food culture in the city. Afterward, join us for the final dinner on Saturday evening. In addition, we'll offer tours of both a local olive orchard and the historic San Jose Mission on Thursday afternoon before dinner. More details to come, including the weekend program. We hope to see some of you in San Antonio in March.
